Foil and Embossed Labels

Foil and embossed labels are a great way to enhance a brand’s image.

They are commonly used for a variety of applications; namely bakeries, chocolatiers, cosmetic products, and wine and alcoholic beverages. Choose from a wide range of foil colours, ink colours, and label sizes.

At Vivid Ink Labels we employ two methodologies of applying foil; allowing us to cost competitively serve a number of markets:

Hot Foil Stamping

Hot foil stamping is a method of printing that releases the foil to the surface of your label with a heated die. Foil labels are not embossed, though the foil can appear to be slightly raised. Foil stamping is best suited for short run jobs, as it is a post press operation. Labels are printed beforehand, and then foiled on an offline piece of equipment afterwards.

Cold Foiling

Similar to hot foil stamping, cold foiling is a method of printing that releases the foil to the surface of your label with a printing plate. Cold foiling works best on smooth, coated stocks. Cold foiling is best used for medium to long run jobs, as the foil is applied while the job is printed on press. Unlike hot foil stamping, the foil will not appear slightly raised, but rather flush with the surface of the label.

Embossing

Embossing means to press an image into the label material so that the image is raised above the label surface. Our process for doing this is called “hot stamping.” Your labels can be embossed with or without printing (Blind embossing).
